1. Definitions

The following definitions apply unless otherwise stated:

Global Alumni includes the Global Alumni environment and website, globalalumni.org, as well as the Global Alumni online learning platform.

You refers to the person having registered for a course.

MIT is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and includes MIT xPRO.

MIT xPRO refers to MIT acting via MIT xPRO.

Course is an MIT course offered by Global Alumni in collaboration with MIT xPRO through the Global Alumni environment.

Website is Global Alumni’s online campus and any other website utilized in a course or in collaboration with a course.

Web Content includes all content published on the Website, including, among others, text, exams, videos, images, and other instructional materials provided in relation to the course offered through the Website, as well as user publications.

User refers to any person using the Website, including the person who has registered for a course under these Terms.

User Account is an account created by Global Alumni that is regulated by these Terms and Conditions.

User publications is any content admitted, published, or distributed on the Website by you or another user, including but not limited to, all forum postings, wiki pages, notes, questions, comments, videos, and uploaded files.

2. Scope

By registering for a course, you enter into an agreement with Global Alumni and agree to follow these Terms and Conditions, which also includes the following:

3. Registration and payment

The following definitions apply unless otherwise stated:

Restrictions

MIT xPRO reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to accept or reject any registration for a course.

Registration Process

Unless otherwise agreed upon with Global Alumni, you must finalize registration before one (1) day before the start of the course. Bear in mind that once registration is closed, cancellations and late registrations cannot be guaranteed.

Payment

Global Alumni will process payment information, and you will be redirected to a secure website, to complete the payment. Once payment is completed, you will receive confirmation of your registration within 48 hours. Please, retain this email for possible requests related to this course in the future. If you are unable to complete the payment, please contact Global Alumni at soportemitxpro@globalalumni.org, and you will be provided with bank account details to complete your payment via transfer.

Installment Conditions

We also offer the possibility to carry out your payment in two installments. Paying through installments entails the following requirements:

  1. Once the first installment is completed, you will receive your credentials to access the virtual campus platform. The amount of the first installment will depend on the program:
    • US$800 for the Leading The Project Organization course;
  2. The second payment must be made before the start of the course. The amount of the second installment will, thus, depend on the program:
    • US$650 for the Leading The Project Organization course;
  3. If we do not receive confirmation of payment of the second installment, you will not be able to continue with the course, and your access credentials will be blocked in the platform, preventing you from accessing the virtual campus and its contents. You will not be able to request a refund of the first installment.
  4. This payment installment plan cannot be combined with any other type of promotion.

Cohort Change Policy

  1. One change of cohort is permitted per program.
  2. Participants may request a cohort change up to 7 days after the start date of their cohort of the program.
  3. Requests for a cohort change will be carried out as follows:
    • Notice period: the first 7 days following the start date of their cohort of the program. Requests made after that period will not be considered.
    • Communication channel: requests should be made via e-mail at the following address: soportemitxpro@globalalumni.org.
    • Requests made up to seven (7) days following the start date will not be subject to administrative fees of US$150.
  4. Exceptions: cohort change requests for medical or other justified reasons, including force majeure, during the established communication period (7 days from the initial cohort start date) will be exempt from the US$150 administrative fee. Requests must be sent to the aforementioned email and include the corresponding documentation (medical, police, or other reports; etc.). Once the request is received, it will be evaluated by the academic committee.
  5. Regardless of the circumstances, a cohort change is not possible after the first 7 days following the start date.

Refund Policy

  1. Requests for cancellation and refunds will be carried out as follows:
    1. Participants who wish to unenroll and request a refund may do so within one week (7 days) after the course starts, with $150 administrative fee (except for medical or other justified reasons). The requests made up until the course starts, will not be subject to administrative fees.
    2. Communication channel: requests should be made via e-mail at the following address: soportemitxpro@globalalumni.org
  2. For any course purchased as part of a program bundle, learners may only request a refund within one week (7 days) after the start of the first course—regardless of whether that course is sequentially first in the program.
  3. Cohort change is possible between 1–7 days after the course start, with $150 administrative fee (except for medical or other justified reasons). The requests made up until the course starts, will not be subject to administrative fees.

Discount Codes

Any applicable discount code should be added during registration to receive the corresponding discount. No discounts will be applied after the registration form has been sent. Special offers cannot be combined with any additional discounts.

Taxes

Unless otherwise expressly indicated, all prices or payment amounts are excluded from sales tax, value-added tax (VAT), goods and services tax (GST), or any other tax that may arise from the administering of the course.

Admissions Survey

You will be asked to provide some personal information in a brief, mandatory course survey. Failure to do so may prevent you from accessing course materials.

4. User account and website

Installment Conditions

To correctly access the course, you will be asked to create a User Account, requiring that you:

  1. Provide accurate, current information about yourself when requested;
  2. Maintain and update accurate information as needed;
  3. Keep your account name and password, as well as any other credentials, private and only for your own individual use; and
  4. Refrain from sharing your account, credentials, and Website information with any third party under any circumstances.

Acceptable Usage

Your use of the website should follow:

  1. These Terms, including the privacy policy and honor code.
  2. All applicable local, regional, national, and international laws; rules and regulations, including copyright laws; and
  3. Any laws regarding the transmission of technical data exported from your country of residence, and all United States export control laws.

5. User postings

User postings representations and warranties

By submitting or distributing your user postings, you affirm, represent and warrant (1) that you have the necessary rights, licenses, consents and/or permissions to reproduce and publish, the user postings and to authorize MIT xPRO and its users to reproduce, modify, publish and otherwise use and distribute your user postings in a manner consistent with the licenses granted by you below, and (2) that neither your submission of your user postings nor the exercise of the licenses granted below will infringe or violate the rights of any third party. You, and not MIT xPRO, are solely responsible for your user postings and the consequences of posting or publishing them.

License grant to MIT xPRO

By submitting or distributing your user postings, you hereby grant to MIT xPRO a worldwide, non-exclusive, transferable, assignable, sub licensable, fully paid-up, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable right and license to host, transfer, display, perform, reproduce, modify, distribute, re-distribute, relicense, and otherwise use, make available and exploit your user postings, in whole or in part, in any form and in any media formats and through any media channels (now known or hereafter developed).

License grant to MIT xPRO users

By submitting or distributing your user postings, you hereby grant to each user of the Site a non-exclusive license to access and use your user postings in connection with their use of the Site for their own personal purposes.

6. Certificate of Completion

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a digital Certificate of Completion for the MIT xPRO course. The Certificate of Completion is an official document, digitally signed and certified by MIT xPRO. All courses and professional certificates completed through MIT xPRO will be filed (and confirmed upon request) by MIT xPRO.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend, hold harmless, and indemnify MIT and Global Alumni from and against any third-party complaints, claims, losses, expenditures, damages, or costs (including legal fees and costs) arising out of, resulting from, or in any way related to:

9. Disclaimer and Limitations of Liabilities

Own Risk

You:

  1. Use of the Website, and the content and services obtained from or through the Website, is at your own risk.
  2. Access to or download of information, materials, or data through the site or any reference sites is at your own discretion and risk.
  3. You will be solely responsible for any damage to your property (including your computer system) or loss of data that results from the download or use of such material for data, unless otherwise expressly provided for by MIT or Global Alumni.

Links to Other Sites

The Website may include hyperlinks to sites maintained or controlled by others.

  1. If you decide to access linked third-party websites, you do so at your own risk.
  2. MIT and Global Alumni are not responsible for and do not routinely screen, approve, review, or endorse the contents of or use of any of the products or services that may be offered on these other websites.

Warranty Disclaimer

MIT y Global Alumni:

  1. Provide the Website and any information, content, or services made available on or throughout the Website “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind (express, implied, or otherwise), including, without limitation, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, except insofar as any such implied warranties may not be disclaimed under applicable law.
  2. Do not guarantee that the Website will operate in an uninterrupted or error-free manner, that the site is free of viruses or other harmful components, or that the courses or content provided will meet your needs or expectations.
  3. Make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or quality of the Website or any courses or content, or that any particular courses or content will continue to be made available.
  4. Are not responsible for any loss or damages, either actual or consequential, arising out of or relating to these Terms of Service, or your use of or inability to use the site, or your placement of content on the site, or your reliance upon information obtained from or through the site, whether your claim is based in contract, tort, statute, or other law.
  5. Are not liable—to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law—for any consequential, indirect, punitive, special, exemplary, or incidental damages, whether foreseeable or unforeseeable, and whether MIT and Global Alumni have been negligent or otherwise at fault (including, but not limited to, claims for defamation, errors, loss of profits, loss of data, or interruption in availability of data).

10. Others

Transfer of Rights

Global Alumni may assign or address any right or obligation under these Terms. You may not transfer or address your rights or obligations under these Terms, nor shall you plan to do so.

Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between You and Global Alumni with respect to this issue. These Terms supersede and prior agreements between Global Alumni and You in relation to courses and the subject of these Terms.

Waiver of Terms

The failure to exercise or a delay in the enforcement of any right, power, or appeal under these Terms constitutes a waiver. The simple or partial exercising of a right or the waiver of any right, power, or appeal does not prevent the exercise of that or any other right, power, or appeal. A waiver is not considered valid or binding if not in written form.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found illegal, invalid, or inapplicable by law, this will not affect the legality, validity, or applicability of this provision under another law or the legality, validity, or applicability of another provision.

Modifications

Global Alumni reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Any modification will become immediately effective once published on the Website. Accessing the Website after any modification has been made will indicate your consent on a prospective basis of the modified Terms.

Third Party Rights

MIT is a beneficiary third party of these Terms, and each party may apply these Terms directly for their benefit.

Applicable Legislation and Jurisdiction

This agreement is subject to the laws of the State of Florida in the United States of America, and You subscribe to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Florida courts.

Program Management

All the contents of the course would be made available to students at the commencement of the course. However, to ensure the program delivers the desired learning outcomes students have adopted to adhere to the cohort-based learning approach. The students by accepting these terms of services appoint Global Alumni to manage the delivery of the program during the course period for a better learning experience the fee for which is already included under Course Fee, as stated in the Course Fees and Payment section.

Code of Ethical Conduct

Working together is a key factor of success. Together, we can go further than each on their own. We strongly encourage You to always attempt to collaborate and work in teams, freely sharing your ideas and questions with others, resulting in your own benefit. To do so, it is important to accept and follow some basic rules of conduct that allow for the development of educational activity in an environment of mutual trust.

In that sense, we remind You that by registering for this course:

  • You will perform all activities related to the course.
  • You will not present work that has not come from You or been written by You without adequately indicating the sources from which it came.
  • You ensure that all activities are original work, prepared exclusively by You or with the collaboration of your group members registered for the same course.
  • You will not allow anyone else to access the platform with your credentials.
  • You will take the quizzes, exams, and tests individually, without external or unauthorized help.
  • You will not share the quests to quizzes, exams, or tests with anyone else, including your colleagues from the course.
  • You will not publish course materials outside of the course platform.
  • You will not commit any dishonest act, especially if it is aimed at improving your grade.
  • You will demonstrate ethical behavior and put forth your best effort so that others may collaborate in the same way.
